My interest in anime (Japanese animation) was what originally started me in the idea of making clay figures.  Here are some of the anime-inspired figures I’ve done, grouped according to the series that inspired them.

Card Captor Sakura - This series was released on the WB Network under the name "Cardcaptors"

The Fight Card - This figure was done entirely in glow-in-the-dark Premo clay.

The Power Card - This was also done in glow-in-the-dark clay, with a touch of pink added to correspond to the anime.

Galadriel

Although not an anime character per se, I've included her with two other studies I've done using glow-in-the-dark clay.  This one uses varying mixes of Sculpey Glow, including the skin tones.

The Vision of Escaflowne - Another series aired in the US, for 11 weeks on the Fox network.

Van Fanel - The young king of Fanelia was a good practice for the nativity angels I've done. Merle - One of my first pieces was the cute little cat girl who is Van's constant companion.
Yu-Gi-Oh

This rendition of Yama-Yugi was requested by a fellow correspondent on Polymerclaycentral.com.

Revolutionary Girl Utena - A high school girl finds herself caught up in a dueling club with a mysterious purpose.

Utena - At the base of this figure, I added a pink rose.  This is the ornate outfit she seems magically to attire at the outset of each duel. Jury - This was a specific request.  As an upper-classman, she appears to be able to choose her own uniform design. Shiori - I don't know much about this character, other than that she seems to be something of a schemer.

Angelic Layer - If any series deserved airtime in the US, this is it.  It combines the best elements - Barbie dolls and martial arts.  This is one of the fighting 'angels', Blanche.

Fushigi Yuugi - An ancient book draws two best friends into a magical, life-or-death struggle.

Miaka - The design of the school uniforms fascinated me so much that I wanted to try to re-create it. Tasuki - A friend from Sweden asked me to make this character for his brother, who is a fan of the series.

Computer Game Characters

Aeris Gainsborough - This character from Final Fantasy 7 was actually made as a business card holder!  She's a part of my display at The Evelyne Bay Coffee Company in Lambertville, MI. Tukuyomi - These are two views of the same character - also named Harle, from Chrono Cross - to give you a look at the detail of her face. Jyaness - or Janice, a bit player in Chrono Cross.  Another requested piece, along with Tukuyomi.

Selphie Tilmet - Most of these game characters were commissioned by one lady, who was trying to get a set of all her favorite characters.  This one is from Final Fantasy 8.

Lulu - This is the companion and mentor of Yuna, who leads off my home page.  Both characters are from Final Fantasy 10.

------------------------>

This Covered Pen features the San Francisco 49ers' mascot, Sourdough Sam, on the top.

SD Asuka - SD means "Super Deformed", and refers to miniaturized versions of anime characters.  This one is Asuka from "Neon Genesis Evangelion". Sumomo - This is not an SD character, but one done in actual scale.  Sumomo, the mini persocon from "Chobits".

A-ko - There were three "Project A-ko" movies, which were parodies on known anime themes.  Here, A-ko is in her outfit from the third of those films.

Rurouni Kenshin - This series about a wandering samurai has all the elements of the lone-gunslinger type Western. Lina Inverse - A powerful - and cute! - sorceress from the "Slayers" series.
Ginny Weasley - Ginny's design is based on Koge Donbo's Harry Potter Doujinshi.  If you look closely, you can see the Harry doll clutched in her hand. Eriya & Narya - By rights, these two belong with the other figures from "The Vision of Escaflowne", but I've had to move them a bit. Kaolla Su - From "Love Hina", this figure is Suu-chan in her 'grown-up' version, which she assumes once or twice in the series.
